RAMP Mentorship Program, Alameda Contra Costa Counties: Volunteer Mentor

Part-time, flexible scheduling, at least 3–5 hours each month.
Answers to the RAMP Program Director
The Retention Apprentice Mentorship Program (RAMP) aims to find seasoned journey workers, retirees, and advanced apprentices to act as Volunteer Mentors for Black apprentices in the building and construction sectors. Mentors provide apprentices the
tools, confidence, and support to develop into their full potential; they also assist the future generation of leaders by not only guiding but also shaping.
Share trade-specific knowledge, best practices, and personal experience with assigned RAMP mentees. Offer one-on-one mentorship.
Assist mentees with time management, communication, and workplace navigation.
Assist individuals overcome obstacles and assist them make use of local resources.
As required, participate in online or in-person mentor check-ins or training sessions.
Report briefly on progress when RAMP authorities require.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Commitment to racial equality and economic justice
Attentive listener and good speaker
Respectful, patient, and inspiring
Consistent and reliable in terms of execution
Though not required, prior experience as a teacher, supervisor, or mentor is helpful.
Minimum Requirements:
At least a fourth-year apprentice, journeyperson, retired
tradesperson
Knowledge of the union culture and the building trades work settings
A readiness to go through a short background check and orientation
